Stephen Hawking's Quotations - The Land Salmon :: Lifestyle :: Fashion :: Music :: Design :: Nightlife

Stephen Hawking's Quotations - The Land Salmon :: Lifestyle :: Fashion :: Music :: Design :: Nightlife: "10. 'Einstein was wrong when he said 'God does not play dice'. Consideration of black holes suggests, not only that God does play dice, but that He sometimes confuses us by throwing them where they can't be seen.'

9. 'I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.'"

Michael Josephson Commentary: Coaching for Character 549.1: "Whether it’s sports, business, or politics, whenever we divorce issues of competence from issues of character, we create a class of amoral professionals who think they’re exempt from common standards of honor and decency."

The Writer's Almanac from American Public Media

The Writer's Almanac from American Public Media: "It was on this day in 1521 that Pope Leo X excommunicated Martin Luther for condemning the Catholic Church in his 95 theses. Luther was a professor of biblical interpretation at the time in Germany, and he could find no text in scripture that permitted the church to make money by selling indulgences for the forgiveness of sins."

I find it interesting that what got Luther in trouble is so obvious today. You wonder what doctrine we hold today will be considered in the same light 500 years from now?
